Battle for Xilos

Things started fairly badly for the Boromites as a large Scutter squad advanced into the dense forest of pylons supporting the central industrial platform. Despite almost all of the Boromire force pouring heavy fire into the small machines, they proved almost impervious to harm. The course of the battle started to turn from bad to worse as they were joined by a command crawler, opening fire relentlessly with disruptor bombs. Luckily the thick skin of the miners proved almost as resilient as the armoured Ghar as only one Boromite fell to the inevitable return salvo.

Away on the far side of the field, a squad of outcasts used up most of their ammunition blasting away at a couple of elusive micromites while a unit of Battle Suits took up a watchful position intending to ambush the Lavamite brood lurking behind a nearby hab block. Just as they predicted, the Lavamites made a dash from one building to the next and were caught in a murderous fusliade of scourer fire. This must have rattled the poor beasts as, when the time came for them to charge out and get their revenge, even the lash of their handler couldn’t force them from their hiding places.

Back in the centre, a unit of miners advanced on the scutters, intending to introduce them to a vorpal charge. They never got the chance however as a squad of gangers swept in, seemingly from nowhere, and saw off the annoying little machines with a couple of rounds of intense melee combat.

At that point, due to the constraints of spacetime, the Ghar commander was forced to concede the field by the narrowest of narrow margins. (10 points in it!)
