Running the unexpected encounter scenario, upon the end of turn one, both sides had fully deployed their units onto the field. Unfortunately, the way the terrain was set up, the Freeborn had a high ground with their support unit fully established on it. Anyone crazy enough to end a turn outside of cover would be in for a painful experience. So the Algoryn army sent two units out wide to make a break for the other side and by turn 3 had made it halfway across.
Meanwhile, in the center of the shooting gallery on the board, back and forths were being traded and only one unit each was lost from the fighting. And not from dying, but from breaking. Both sides were firmly set and not pushing each other either way. The only hope was for the 2 wide units to make a break for it on turn 5 and 6. Unfortunately, there was a single firing line to them from the support cannon up high and with them set to ambush anyone running across, the Algoryn had to risk it. One unit was taken out but the other lost all but one unit, enough to stay alive. However, that was at the end of turn 6 and had we had another move or two left, we could have made it across. The game ended in a draw.
