Algoryn and Concord forces deployed kinetic barriers around the drop site as the engineers landed. A couple transporter drones hummed up, and they jumped down in the red soil. The compactor drones unloaded heavy machinery and diagnostic equipment.
The barriers provided a great distraction, but the enemy came from all sides. Freeborn mercenaries lobbed shots over the barrier, right into a high concentration of bodies. A hover bike squad even sailed over the barrier and charged the support squad! Luckily we had some crack-shots manning the weapon, because a quickdraw plasma pistol leveled the rider. Commendation paperwork is currently being escalated.
Ghar came at us from an outcropping and approached very close to our barrier. They grouped up two squads to push forward like a battering ram, weathering fire. We used technologically superiority to prevail, utilizing Blur shells from the X-Launcher and SlingNet ammo to hold them back. An assault squad changed tactics to flank around, but we bought enough time.
The Algoryn brought their anti-Ghar experience to the battle and were prepared to face heavy suits with D-Spinner close combat troops. They sustained heavy losses in ranged fire, and did not see hand to hand combat. Our perimiter was only breached by the fast-moving Freeborn.
Even though the enemy kept coming, we were able to repair the transporter and secure an escape route.
